The Resort Municipality of Whistler is a vibrant community situated within the boundaries of Electoral Area C and Electoral Area D of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District. More than two million people visit Whistler each year, primarily to ski and snowboard at world renowned Whistler Blackcomb. The resort offers a multitude of winter and summer outdoor adventures, including heli-skiing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, golf, mountain biking, hiking, paddling, watersports, and more.

Whistler was originally conceived as part of a bid to win the 1968 Winter Olympics. Despite the fact that the bid was withdrawn, the resort opened for business in 1966. The resort expanded extensively in the 80s and 90s, becoming the centrepiece of Vancouver’s successful bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
