In 2010, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) initiated the Governance and Boundaries Project to identify and address issues of governance, boundaries, and related matters which are of concern to the SLRD, its member municipalities (Lillooet, Pemberton, Squamish, and Whistler), Electoral Areas, and the First Nations within the boundaries of the SLRD.
Phase I of the project involved information gathering and issues identification. Phase II involved analyzing the issues and developing options with respect to the following broad topic areas:
- Region-wide structure analysis;
- Improving Board efficiency and decision-making;
- Northern area sub-regional partnerships; and
- Decision-making for regional service delivery.
