Electoral Area D

The television production Lost in Space is filming on location at the Chek Canyon Recreation Site in SLRD Area D from May 25-27, 2017. A temporary license for the production has been granted to Mayflower Productions Inc. by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.

The schedule is weather-dependent. If the weather is uncooperative, the shoot will be rescheduled.

Access up the Conroy Forest Service Road to the Chek Canyon rock climbing area and camp sites will be impacted during that period.

On Thursday, May 25, and Saturday, May 27, for preparation and restoration, traffic will be restricted to alternating traffic.

During filming on Friday, May 26, public access to the site will be restricted. There will be no public parking available.

While the production crew hope people opt to climb and recreate elsewhere on Friday, May 26, they will accommodate anyone who wants to hike or climb. Limited public parking is available at the salt shed lot.

The Climbers Access Society of BC and Whistler Alpine Guides have been advised of the impacts.
