The SLRD received a Temporary Use Permit application from LandSea Camp Services on behalf of the Taicheng Development Corp. for temporary work camp to be located on a 10 acre portion of a parcel in Britannia Beach South.  The work camp would house 100 - 300 workers and is intended to meet the general need for temporary employee and workforce housing in the Sea to Sky corridor.  The camp would be a full service self contained system including water, sewer, and solid waste infrastructure.

The applicant has requested a three year TUP.  The subject property is:  District Lot 1538, Group 1, NWD, Except: Firstly; Part in reference plan 4390, Secondly; part in reference plan 4878, Thirdly; Part on plan 21576, Fourthly; Part shown as 8.31 acres on highway plan 76, Fifthly; Part shown as 0.08 acres on highway plan 76, Sixthly; Portion on plan BCP29232.  This property is part of the Taicheng Development rezoning application for Britannia Beach South.

TUP No. 53 was presented to the SLRD Board as an information report for their consideration at the June 28, 2017 meeting.  It was intended to be considered for approval at the July 26, 2017 meeting.  The SLRD Board passed the following resolution at the June 28, 2017 meeting:

THAT the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District reject the application for a Temporary Use Permit (Temporary Use Permit #53) for a work camp in Britannia Beach South (Area D) by LandSea Camp Services on behalf of the Taicheng Development Corporation.

THAT the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District invites FortisBC and Woodfibre LNG to submit an application for permanent purpose-built rental housing.
