Evacuation Alert Issued for the Yalakom Valley

 

PEMBERTON, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert, effective 1245 hrs, Thursday, July 22, 2010 for the Yalakom Valley.

The SLRD has been advised by the Incident Commander that the Yalakom Valley Wildfire presents a potential danger to life, safety and property in the following areas:  the Yalakom Valley Forest Service Road.  (Map attached).

Persons requiring transportation or assistance to evacuate, in the event that an evacuation order is issued, are asked to advise the RCMP or person[s] delivering the evacuation alert, or to call 1-800-298-7753.

A public information line has been established at 1-866-417-4132 for area residents to call for update information.
