SLRD convenes community meetings in Birken, Seton Portage/Shalath, Bralorne and Gun Lake to present fire protection options
The SLRD is holding a series of community meetings to engage with property owners in the communities of Birken, Seton Portage/Shalath, Bralorne and Gun Lake about their fire services.
The SLRD received a zoning amendment application for a private communications site on an unsurveyed parcel of Crown land in the Gun Lake vicinity. The current RR2 zoning does not include private communications site as a permitted use.
Proposed Zoning Amendment:
To allow for a private communications site/equipment on an unsurveyed parcel of Crown land in the vicinity of Gun Lake (Gun Lake S Road, 80m south-east of junction with Hess Road) to support the existing Jamie Creek Hydroelectric Facility and Mt. Penrose Communications Site.

Update: August 7, 2018 3pm
- The SLRD has been advised by the contractor coordinating recovery of the crashed plane from Tyaughton Lake that the plane will be removed from the lake tomorrow, Wednesday 8 August.
- Interior Health advises that the Do Not Consume Water Quality notice will remain in place until approximately end of day Friday 10 August to allow for the completion of water testing after the plane has been removed.
UPDATE August 11, 2018
Interior Health has advised that after the latest water testing of samples from Tyaughton Lake, the results meet both the aquatic life and drinking water guidelines outlined by the BC Water Quality Guidelines (BC WQG), as well as US EPA drinking water guidelines for parameters where BC WQG do not exist.
Therefore, the Do Not Consume water quality advisory has been lifted and normal water use can resume.
Drive BC is reporting that Road 40 is closed in both directions 70 km west of the Junction with Highway 99, in Lillooet because of a mud slide.
There is no detour available. Estimated time of opening is currently unavailable. Road will remain closed overnight. Next update is expected at noon on Friday, August 3.
Affected Area: Area A - Tyaughton Lake water users
Due to the temporary DO NOT USE Water Quality notice in place for all those who draw water from Tyaughton Lake, Potable Water Filling Stations have been set up in Goldbridge. The three locations are marked on the map:
At the advice of Interior Health, the SLRD has issued a temporary DO NOT USE water notice for all those drawing water from Tyaughton Lake. You CANNOT make the water safe by boiling it. The notice is in place until further notice.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms beginning early this afternoon. These storms may be capable of producing heavy downpours, large hail and strong wind gusts.
