SLRD convenes community meetings in Birken, Seton Portage/Shalath, Bralorne and Gun Lake to present fire protection options
The SLRD is holding a series of community meetings to engage with property owners in the communities of Birken, Seton Portage/Shalath, Bralorne and Gun Lake about their fire services.
Lillooet BC / Northern St’át’imc Territory – Officials from the District of Lillooet, P’egp’íg’lha Council (T’ít’q’et) and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) signed a Protocol Agreement for Communication and Cooperation on Thursday, May 24, 2018. The Protocol Agreement provides a framework to establish stronger relationships between the parties through improved communication and enhanced collaboration.
BC Hydro has advised that the water flows on the Lower Bridge River will continue to increase over the coming weeks and will remain well above normal until the end of July.
BC Hydro requests that the public be very careful when active in and around the river as water levels may rise suddenly and without warning.
Residents and visitors are reminded to stay away from the edges of the Lower Bridge River during this high flow period and continue to be mindful of water safety throughout the year.
Note from the SLRD: The Information Bulletin below from the Kamloops Fire Centre was issued on Friday, May 11. Effective at noon on Tuesday, May 15 Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be restricted at elevations below 1,200 metres throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre, including the Lillooet Fire Zone. The prohibition does not ban campfires (0.5 m high x 0.5 m wide or smaller), and does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.

4-hour power outage will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 10 am - 2 pm
BC Hydro has advised the SLRD that it will be undertaking electrical system improvements in the Gold Bridge, Bralorne, Gun Lake and outlying areas which will require that the power be shut off for approximately 4 hours. The map below was provided by BC Hydro; the green line indicates where the power outage will occur.
