Expression of Interest - FireSmart Coordinator and Local FireSmart Representatives

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is seeking interest from qualified persons with the appropriate certifications, experience and expertise for the provision of FireSmart Project Coordinator and Local FireSmart Representative services within eacho f the SLRD's four electoral areas. 

Services will involve the coordination of the SLRD 2022 FireSmart Community Funding and Supports project on a fixed-term contract from August 1, 2022 - March 14, 2023.

Electoral Area B Zoning Amendment Bylaw - Agricultural Zoning Updates

Project Overview

As a result of changes to the Agricultural Land Commission Act (ALCA) and Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) Use and General Regulations, the SLRD needs to update zoning bylaws to be in alignment with the Provincial regulatory framework. Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1752-2022 seeks to incorporate these necessary changes into the existing Area B Zoning Bylaw, while also including discretionary changes that are supported by the Area B Agricultural Advisory Committee.

There are two sets of key content changes:

The Area B Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) will convene from 10:00-11:30am via Zoom on Tuesday June 2, 2022.

FireSmart Program for Eligible Property Owners in SLRD Electoral Areas A, B, and C and the District of Lillooet

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD), in partnership with the District of Lillooet, is pleased to offer free FireSmartTM Home Ignition Zone Assessment and vegetation removal, to eligible property owners in Electoral Areas A, B and C of the SLRD, and the District of Lillooet.

  • The program is being funded with a one-time grant from the UBCM Community Resiliency Investment Program.
  • Property owners must be 65 years-old or older, and the property must be their primary residence to qualify.
  • Registration is open until April 15, 2022.
