FireSmart Program for 65+ Residents Launched in Lillooet and Parts of the Regional District
SLRD and District of Lillooet hope to target up to 250 properties
Pemberton, B.C. – With support from a provincial FireSmartTM funding program, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) and District of Lillooet have partnered on a project that will help residents aged 65 and over to reduce the risk of wildfire on their properties, and surrounding areas.
The SLRD has been awarded $358,000 in FireSmart funding through a one-time COVID-19 economic recovery funding stream of the UBCM Community Resiliency Investment program.

Travel Advisory - Road 40 / Lillooet-Pioneer Highway
Please be on high alert if driving on Road 40 / Lillooet-Pioneer Highway in the vicinity of areas burned by the McKay Creek fire K71030. Rolling debris has been observed falling onto the road and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI) has warning signage in place through this area.
Motorists should avoid any non-essential travel into or through an Evacuation Alert or Order area.
If you are travelling, plan ahead and be prepared for closures or lengthy delays due to wildfire activity, or crews and heavy equipment working on containment.
