UPDATED: Pemberton Portage Road (Birken) open to single-lane alternating traffic

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has opened Pemberton Portage Road at Neff Creek to single-lane alternating traffic, while repairs are underway.

Further assessment of the area will take place this afternoon.


Pemberton Portage Road is closed in both directions, due to a landslide in the vicinity of Neff Creek, in Electoral Area C of the SLRD.

There is debris on the roadway, and the area has been deemed unsafe for travel at this time.

Notice of Pemberton Valley Utilities and Services (PVUS) Committee Meeting - July 14, 2022

A Regular Meeting of the Pemberton Valley Utilities and Services (PVUS) Committee will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. via electronic facilities at the SLRD Administration Building, 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton, BC (the “Meeting Location”).

Expression of Interest - FireSmart Coordinator and Local FireSmart Representatives

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is seeking interest from qualified persons with the appropriate certifications, experience and expertise for the provision of FireSmart Project Coordinator and Local FireSmart Representative services within eacho f the SLRD's four electoral areas. 

Services will involve the coordination of the SLRD 2022 FireSmart Community Funding and Supports project on a fixed-term contract from August 1, 2022 - March 14, 2023.

Prescribed Burn Scheduled Near Pemberton in the Owl Creek Drainage

The BC Wildfire Service and the Lil’wat Nation has issued an information bullet regarding two prescribed burns 9 kilometres north of the village of Pemberton, BC, in an area referred locally as the Owl Creek Drainage. This will be a collaboration between Lil’wat Forestry Ventures (LFV), the forestry division of the Lil’wat First Nation, and BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Request for Proposals: Detailed Quantitative Landslide Hazard and Risk Assessment - Reid Road Area, Electoral Area C

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD), acting as an agent for and under the authority of the  Province of British Columbia, is soliciting Proposals from qualified professionals possessing appropriate education, training and experience consistent with the services required to complete a detailed quantitative landslide hazard and risk assessment (the Assessment) in the Reid Road area of the SLRD Electoral Area C.
