Construction of expanded play park to be completed this fall
Pemberton, BC - Construction of the new Britannia Beach Play Park will begin on September 28, 2022. The project is anticipated to take three weeks from start to completion.
The SLRD is building an expanded playground at Britannia Beach. Construction on the new Britannia Beach Play Park is set to begin the week of September 28, 2022. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
The play park design incorporates resident feedback, and includes an expanded play area with improved accessibility, encouraging creative play and exploration, with a mix of traditional and natural elements.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District in partnership with Squamish Climate Action Network (Squamish CAN) is conducting curbside collection services checks to help residents improve their recycling and organics collection. The Tune-Up Team will visit the neighborhoods of Britannia Beach and Furry Creek for brief checks of recycling and organics totes on September 7, 2022.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has been notified of crews filming of TV commercial along Squamish Valley Road at the following locations and dates for 2-3 hours during daytime:
- Between Lewis Drive and the Pilchuk Bridge on Friday, August 26.
- 4685 Squamish Valley Road on Thursday, August 25th and Friday, August 26th (private property).

Environment Canada has issued a heat wave warning for most areas of the province, including communities in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District
Heat warning issued for:
- Fraser Canyon - north including Lillooet, B.C.
- Howe Sound, B.C.
Daytime highs 35 to 40 degrees and overnight lows in the high-teens expected for Wednesday through to Friday morning. Unsettled weather and cooler temperatures are forecast beginning Friday as a series of disturbances cross the region.

A Request for Decision was considered at the SLRD Electoral Area Directors (EAD) Committee meeting, May 11, 2022 and the SLRD Board meeting, May 25, 2022, regarding regional parks and regional trails service establishing bylaws. The four bylaws were created to provide each electoral area director with a service that is specific to their respective areas.
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has been notified of commercial photography and film crew setting up in two locations within Electoral Area D August 10 and 11, 2022 - Thompson Trail and the Pillary, a section of Area 44.
