Wildfire Risk Reduction treatment will take place in three designated areas this month. A majority of the work took place during the winter of 2020-21, with remaining tasks such as piling and burning woody debris scheduled for this fall.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has been notified that Talon Helicopters will be performing low-level flying for a leak detection survey with LaSen Inc. for Fortis BC between September 24, 2021 - October 31, 2021.
The activities will take place during daylight hours, per Special Authorization issued by Transport Canada.
There will be no activity on the ground related to this.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District in partnership with Squamish Climate Action Network (Squamish-CAN) is conducting curbside recycling checks to help residents improve their recycling. The Tune-Up Team will visit the neighborhoods of Britannia Beach and Furry Creek for brief checks of recycling bins on September 22 and October 20, 2021.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of the SLRD, inlcuding the Howe Sound area, Whistler and Pemberton.
A robust frontal system will bring heavy rain to the B.C. South Coast on Friday. Rain will begin late overnight and intensify during the day on Friday. As the system moves through, heavy rain and gusty winds will ease Friday night.

Pemberton, BC –The new-and-improved Furry Creek viewing platform is once again open to the public, complete with access ramp, better sightlines and an expanded seating area.
Britannia Beach water system users may notice some reduction in water pressureTuesday, August 17 2021 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
The SLRD in partnership with the Britannia Beach Fire Department will be
introducing high water flows into the water system to determine water
pressures throughout the system.
