The SLRD works closely with Emergency Management BC, the RCMP, neighbouring jurisdictions, and all relevant agencies and ministries to enable safe and timely emergency evacuations. Following are the current evacuation plans and resources that have been developed for communities of the SLRD and the member municipalities of Lillooet, Pemberton, Whistler and Squamish.
The SLRD Community Emergency Plans provide evacuation routes, muster points, and hazard assessments for unincorporated communities in all four SLRD Electoral Areas. These community-specific plans were developed in collaboration with communitymembers, enhancing these plans through local knowledge.
The Sea to Sky Multimodal Evacuation Plan establishes the principles, structures, roles and responsibilities for a coordinated evacuation of the entire community of the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) or the District of Squamish (DOS). It specifies arrangements, agency roles and responsibilities, and a range of considerations and actions for the evacuation of people from a hazardous community environment to a location where they will be safe. Addressing mass transportation and evacuation issues are critical components of the response to a major emergency in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
The Pemberton Valley Evacuation Guide provides a quick reference to the emergency notification process and an evacuation checklist for residents of the Village of Pemberton and the surrounding SLRD communities of Pemberton Meadows, Mount Currie and Pemberton Fringe.
The District of Lillooet Emergency Response and Recovery Plan provides operational guidelines for coordinating response to incidents arising from hazards and risks faced by citizens, employees and visitors to the District of Lillooet. The Evacuation Plan in Annex E of this document contains the procedures to follow for an evacuation alert, order, or all clear.
