The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is excited to move ahead with the development an Agricultural Plan for Squamish Valley, in partnership with the District of Squamish and Squamish Food Policy Council, following a successful funding application to the Investment Agricultural Foundation of B.C. The intent of the Squamish Valley Agricultural Plan is to build upon an expressed desire by the agricultural and food systems community to create a plan that will assist agriculture and related sectors. The Agricultural Plan will also build on the work and findings of the Squamish Valley Agricultural Land Use Inventory (ALUI) completed in 2017.
The Squamish Valley Agricultural Plan Kick-off Event is planned for March 10th, 2019 at the Brackendale Art Gallery from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. The purpose of the evening is to share the plan’s objectives, spark dialogue on the future of food systems, and seek community knowledge and feedback regarding key issues facing agricultural activities in the Squamish area. The format of the evening is drop-in, with experts and guest speakers presenting from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. Everybody is welcome and refreshments will be served.
