Recreational off-road vehicles remains prohibited on Crown land in SLRD Areas A & B

Sep 15, 2017

UPDATE: Wednesday, September 20, 2017. The off-road vehicle prohibitions have been rescinded throughout all of B.C.

As the hunting season gets underway, the SLRD would like to remind all residents and visitors that an Off-Road Vehicle restriction still applies to some parts of the SLRD.

The prohibition applies to the recreational usage of Off-Road Vehicles (ORVs). As of September 14, 2017, the ORV restriction applies to all Crown land throughout the Cariboo, Kamloops and Southeast fire centres. This includes all of SLRD Electoral Areas A and B.

Please note, there is no ban currently in place in the Coastal Fire Centre.

According to Provincial Government of B.C.'s definition, an off-road vehicle includes all-terrain vehicles (or "quads"), off-road motorcycles, side-by-sides (e.g. "argos", "rhinos" and "razors"), jeeps, trucks, SUVs and other small on-highway motor vehicles.

These restrictions are in place in recognition of the risk and threat of wildfires in the province.

To report an off-road violation, call the RAPP line at: 1 877 952-7277.

Thank you for your cooperation!
