Environment Canada has issued a Wind Warning for Howe Sound

Wind warning in effect for:

  • Howe Sound

Strong winds over southern sections starting midday through this evening.

Hazards: Southerly winds 70 km/h with possible gusts to 90. Broken tree limbs and an increased potential for power outages.

Time span: Midday through this evening.

Locations: Southern sections of Howe Sound; Bowen, Gambier, Keats, and Anvil Islands.

A strong fall storm approaching the south coast will bring increasing southerly winds to parts of the mainland coast. Winds are expected to peak midday today, and will remain strong through this evening.

Winds will ease late this evening as the storm crosses Vancouver Island and moves inland.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
