Wind warning issued for Howe Sound (SLRD Area D, District of Squamish)

Notes from the SLRD:

  • 10:15 a.m. The Wind warning has been lifted. Wind speeds are no longer expected to meet warning criteria.
  • The Information Bulletin below, issued by Environment Canada, impacts SLRD Area D and the District of Squamish. A Rainfall Warning is still in effect for Howe Sound as well.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

An intense cold front is crossing the South Coast this morning. Strong southerly winds 70 gusting to 90 km/h have developed in Howe Sound. Winds will ease this afternoon.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
