UPDATE: 4:15 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017: Highway 99 is now OPEN between Lillooet and the junction with Highway 97.
The Evacuation Order issued on Friday, August 4 for 7 properties in the vicinity of Pear and Kelly Lakes in SLRD Area B has been lifted and the Statue of Local Emergency has been rescinded.
Residents are welcome to return home. However, those travelling from Kamloops are asked to return home after 4:00 p.m. as the Thompson-Nicola Regional District will have travel restrictions in place until that time. Please follow the instructions of all first responders (e.g. RCMP) and carry proof of identity and address.
As well, please be advised that the Elephant Hill fire remains very active, and the area remains on Evacuation Alert at this time. Residents must be prepared to leave at any time. Should it be necessary to re-issue an evacuation order for this area, residents will be given as much notice as possible prior to an evacuation. However, they may receive limited notice as conditions can change quickly.
Please note that Highway 99 between Lillooet (Junction with Highway 12) and Marble Canyon remains closed at this time. However, there is limited access for local traffic with the use of pilot vehicles - please expect lengthy delays. Check www.drivebc.ca (Hwy 99) for updates.
