UPDATE: Thursday August 2, 2018 - Lake Closure extended

The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) has advised that they require the Tyaughton Lake closure to be extended until Monday morning, August 6, 2018. No reacreational use permitted, including swimming and use of water craft. Scene investigation, water testing and recovery operations are in progress.

Due to the aviation accident at Tyaughton Lake earlier today a 48-hour closure of the lake is in place. There is no recreational use of Tyaughton Lake for approximately 48 hours and may be extended if required. The closure is to allow for water testing by Interior Health and to ensure unimpeded investigation and recovery work.

The SLRD will update further as required.
