Under the Local Government Act, a regional district with a Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) must establish a program to monitor its implementation and the progress made towards its objectives. An important component of this is an annual report on that implementation and progress.
To create a more efficient monitoring program for the SLRD, indicators that measure progress toward the RGS and also satisfy the monitoring requirements for the Integrated Sustainability Plan (ISP) were selected.
Data collection for the 2013 monitoring report took place in 2014 and indicates that progress toward RGS and ISP Goals is mixed. Information is monitored on a wide range of indicators - from total energy used and greenhouse gas emissions to leisure activity and housing affordability.
