Applications open for BC Youth Parliament (closing date Oct. 24, 2017)

The SLRD has been advised applications are now open for membership in the British Columbia Youth Parliament (BCYP).

The BCYP is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization for young people aged 16 - 21. The organization will hold its parliamentary session in Victoria, at the Provincial Legislative Chambers, from December 27 to 31, 2017. 

The organization aims to teach citizenship skills through participation in the parliamentary session and in community services throughout the year. Acceptance into the BCYP is a one-year commitment. 

Successful applicants will sit and debate in the Legislative Chambers for five days, and will be accommodated for four nights in Victoria. Successful applicants must pay a registration fee of $350 to join the Youth Parliament. 

Applications close October 24, 2017.

Candidates must be:

  • Aged between 16 - 21 as of Dec. 31, 2017
  • A resident of British Columbia
  • Nominated by an organization committed to youth (including schools or universities)
  • Willing and able to participate in BCYP's activities for one year
