Affected Communities:
Electoral Area C, Village of Pemberton

Do you reside within the Village of Pemberton or in a property on Collins, Urdal, Fraser, Clover, Taylor, Pemberton Farm or the Airport Road?

Pemberton Fruit Tree Project

The Stewardship Pemberton Society is running a project that aims to connect people with excess fruit with those who want and need it, and to reduce human-bear conflict at the same time.

Do you have a tree on your property bursting with fruit? You can register your tree, and the community group will coordinate picking when the fruit is ripe. The harvest is then split equally between owners, volunteers, and local organizations such as the Food Bank and Healthy Pregnancy Outreach Program.

Pemberton Crabapple Project

The crabapples along Portage Road are starting to turn colour. Every year, the community group coordinates picking along these trees, to minimize and prevent attracting bears. The crabapples are then turned into a delicious jelly. This project is looking for pickers, and the work is paid by the pound.
