Joffre Lakes Park 2019 Action Plan

BC Parks has published the 2019 Action Plan for Joffre Lakes Park. The Action Plan is a short-term plan for addressing the safety and park management concerns around Joffre Lakes Park. The plan focuses on priority actions for visitor use management in 2019, with a longer-term Visitor Use Management Strategy to be developed as a next step which will be released in early 2020.

Lead-up to the Canada Day Long Weekend

The following actions will be taken, by BC Parks, to plan for and manage the upcoming July long weekend, which is traditionally a busy time for the Park.

Staffing Plan
Park Rangers will be conducting routine patrols, maintenance, and enforcement throughout the weekend.
Park Operators will be doing routine checks and maintenance of the main and overflow parking lots at Joffre Lakes.

Parking Compliance
Vehicles that are parked illegally on the roadside will be towed; signage will be within the park, as well as on the roadside to advise visitors.

Shuttle Bus
Once the two Joffre Lakes parking lots are full, visitors have the option to pay for a shuttle bus to take them to Joffre Lakes Park from the Duffey Lake Park lot; this is situated on Highway 99 12-kilometres east of Joffre Lakes Park.

The shuttle bus is operated by Parkbus and will provide an alternate means for visitors to access the park, as parking on the highway is prohibited.
