The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District launched a new website on July 14, 2014. Since that time we have learned that some web users are not able to view or download PDF documents from the website. The issue appears to be limited to those users who view the website using Internet Explorer 11 or Firefox web browsers.

October 31, 2014 Update

Measures were implemented on October 30, 2014 to help alleviate PDF viewing issues on our website. We are hopeful that these measures will rectify the issue over time.

In the short term, there may be a situation where you encounter an issue with PDF viewing. If this is the case, please try one of the following:

1, Empty your browser cache, restart your browser, and retry.

Below are links with instructions on how to empty your browser cache:

2. Scroll to the right if you are seeing a grey screen.

Certain PDFs with wide pages may be pushing the initial page off the screen to the right. Scrolling to the right will bring the first page into view.

Please let us know if you are still experiencing problems after trying the above solutions.

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

  1. While the website was optimized for viewing on all of the main web browsers, it appears to work best when using Google Chrome. Download Google Chrome
  2. For those who would prefer not to use Google Chrome, please try the following:
  • Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed. Download Adobe Reader.
  • Open Adobe Reader / Adobe Acrobat.
  • Click Edit and then Preferences.
  • In the left column, select 'Internet.'
  • Uncheck the box 'Display in read mode by default.'
  • Click OK to save. You may need to restart your computer for the settings to be saved.
  • Restart IE/Firefox. Retry opening a PDF.
  • If that doesn't work, open Adobe Reader / Adobe Acrobat again.
  • Click Edit and then Preferences.
  • In the left column, select 'Internet.'
  • Uncheck the box 'Allow fast web view.'
  • Click OK to save. You may need to restart your computer for the settings to be saved.
  • Restart IE / Firefox. Retry opening a PDF.

If you are still unable to open PDFs from the SLRD website after trying these trouble-shooting tips, please let us know! To help us troubleshoot the issue, it would be helpful for us to know the following:

  • Which web browser you are using (and which version)
  • What type of Adobe document reader you are using (e.g. Reader vs. Acrobat Pro) and which version
  • Which PDF(s) you are unable to open

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
