Bralorne Homeowners and Residents:
The SLRD was successful in obtaining $1,999,530 in grant funding to completely replace the sewer system in Bralorne. Under the scope of work, the plan is to combine the independent collection and septic systems for the two townsites into a single system by installing new collection mainlines in the road Rights of Ways that will drain to a new common treatment system and installing new service connections from these new mainlines to existing homes or to the property lines for vacant lots. The new treatment system will exceed the current Wastewater System Effluent Regulations, a regulation that the existing system was violating.
On May 25, 2016, the SLRD Board Chair signed the funding agreement for the grant monies and this officially kicked-off the project. The expected timeline is as follows:
May 26 to June 30, 2016 | RFP for detailed design and creation of Construction documents posted |
July 27, 2016 | Consulting Services Agreement for the design and creation of Construction documents to the Board for approval |
July 28 to February 28, 2017 | Detailed design of the collection (piping) and treatment system started and completed, and creation of Construction documents |
March 1 to April 20, 2017 | Tendering Process to choose construction contractor |
April 26, 2017 | Construction Agreement to the Board for approval |
April 27, 2017 to October 31, 2018* | Construction |
December 31, 2018 | Completion of project per the terms of the funding agreement. |
*The construction is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017. However, projects such as this can have their timelines hindered for a variety of reasons such as delayed permit approvals, short construction windows, load restrictions on roads, poor weather, debris flows and avalanches, forest fires and unknown site conditions, which is why the funding agreement extends a year beyond the expected project completion date.
The SLRD will continue to provide updates to the Community and expect to hold an information session in Bralorne about this project in the fall of 2016. Janis Netzel, Director of the Utilities and Environmental Services Department, is happy to answer any questions you may have about this project.
