Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. In anticipation of this, and in acknowledgement of the contribution volunteers make across the country, the federal government is inviting nominations for Canada's Volunteer Awards.
The call for nominations is now open until February 3, 2017.
You can nominate a:
- not-for-profit organization
- individual
- group, or
- business
for making a difference in the community.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
- 1 national award - Therese Casgrain Lifelong Achievement Award;
- 5 regional awards - Emerging Leader, for young volunteers aged 18-30;
- 5 regional awards - Community Leader, for individuals or groups of volunteers;
- 5 regional awards - Business Leader, to recognize businesses that demonstrate social responsibility; and
- 5 regional awards - Social Innovator, to recognise the contributions of not-for-profit organizations.
Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony and will be able to choose a not-for-profit organization to receive a grant of $5,000 (regional awards) or $10,000 (national award.)
