Aug 16, 2022
Affected Communities:
District of Lillooet, District of Squamish, Electoral Area D

Environment Canada has issued a heat wave warning for most areas of the province, including communities in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District

Heat warning issued for:

  • Fraser Canyon - north including Lillooet, B.C.
  • Howe Sound, B.C.

Daytime highs 35 to 40 degrees and overnight lows in the high-teens expected for Wednesday through to Friday morning. Unsettled weather and cooler temperatures are forecast beginning Friday as a series of disturbances cross the region.

Extreme heat affects everyone. Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Reduce your heat risk and schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.
