Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of the SLRD, inlcuding the Howe Sound area, Whistler and Pemberton.
A robust frontal system will bring heavy rain to the B.C. South Coast on Friday. Rain will begin late overnight and intensify during the day on Friday. As the system moves through, heavy rain and gusty winds will ease Friday night.
- Location: Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whisler, the Sunshine Coast, and East Vancouver Island between Qualicum Beach and Fanny Bay.
- Rainfall accumulation: 50 to 70 mm expected, with potentially higher amounts over Howe Sound and the North Shore mountains.
- Timespan: Friday morning through Friday evening.
- Other risks: Southeasterly winds up to 60 km/h are also expected on Friday.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
