Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Howe Sound.
(Current as at 3:37PM, 3 December.)
Strong southeasterly winds are blowing along the coast today and strong southwesterly winds are possible tonight.
A sharp trough of low pressure crossing the BC South Coast is generating very strong southeasterly winds in the vicinity of the Strait of Georgia. Coastal areas will see a few more hours of strong southeasterly winds.
As the trough passes early this evening, a strong but short blast of southwesterly winds are expected over the Lower Mainland and up the Howe Sound and the Fraser Valley. Winds as high as 50 km/h with gusts to 80 are possible.
Winds are expected to ease later this evening.
