The SLRD Building Department provides building inspection services to property owners in Electoral Areas A, B, C, and D—from Gold Bridge to Furry Creek and from Pavilion Lake to the Upper Squamish Valley. We maintain a schedule of inspections to cover the entire area.

If you have a permit through Cloudpermit, please sign into your workspace and request your inspections through the program; otherwise, contact the Planning and Building Assistant at 1-800-298-7753 extension 241 or at bldgofficial@slrd.bc.ca at least two days in advance of the day the Building Inspector is in your area.
Required Inspections
It Is the Owner’s Responsibility to request the following inspections:
- Footings - Placement of all footing forms prior to pouring concrete. Geotechnical and Structural review required.
- Foundations - Construction of foundation wall. (Prior to Backfill) Stamped forms survey and Structural review required.
- Water Installation - Installation of new water service.
- Sanitary Sewer - Installation of sanitary sewer from the property line to the interior of the building. A test for this portion of the plumbing system is required.
- Damp Proofing - The installation of the damp proofing membrane prior to back-filling against the foundation.
- Drain tile/Perimeter Drain - The installation of the drain tiles or perimeter drain prior to back-filling against the foundation.
- Storm Sewer/Rainwater Leaders - Installation of storm sewer from the property line around the building. A test for this portion of the plumbing system is required.
- Plumbing Underground - Installation of all plumbing that will be covered underground. A test for this portion of the plumbing system is required.
- Pre Slab - After the required insulation and air barrier systems have been installed over the compacted base of the concrete slab but prior to any concrete being placed/poured for the floor. Structural review is required if using steel reinforcement.
- Plumbing Rough-In - Installation of all plumbing including drains, waste, vents and water supply lines. A test for this portion is required including a pressurized test on all water supply lines.
- Tubs & Showers - All tubs & showers, including valves, shall be installed, approved and tested to the overflow of the fixture. Tubs & showers shall be installed and, tested, and approved prior to a framing inspection (stand-alone/drop-in tubs to be inspected at the plumbing final).
- Framing - Construction of all interior and exterior framing. (Plumbing rough-in, electrical rough-in, gas rough-in (if applicable) passed, Mechanical Ventilation Checklist (TECA) and structural framing field review required, and exterior door jams & windows to be installed.) Engineered drawings must be provided for roof trusses.
- Insulation - Installation of the insulating material and vapour barriers. Blown-in insulation can be installed after the ceiling finish is applied and confirmed at the Occupancy inspection. Fire suppression field review required (if applicable).
- Fire Separation – Installation of all required fire separation, including fire-stopping components, if applicable. Data sheets for the fire-stopping components may be required.
- Plumbing Final - Installation of all fixtures, hot water distribution system, and all other applicable provisions of the plumbing code (water metre must be installed if applicable). A test for this portion of the plumbing system is required.
- Building Final/Occupancy - Completion of ALL health and safety, heating and plumbing components. Ensure the following are submitted prior to booking inspection: passed plumbing final, Schedule C-A (if applicable), all Schedule C-Bs (initialed by CRP if applicable) and accompanying Appendix Ds and certificates of insurance, closed permit declarations from Technical Safety BC for electrical and gas (if applicable), WETT certificate (if applicable), and a Letter of Certification - Septic (if applicable).
OCCUPANCY OF A BUILDING IS NOT PERMITTED UNTIL A FINAL INSPECTION REPORT IS ISSUED. OCCUPANCY PRIOR TO A COMPLETED FINAL INSPECTION ISSUED WILL BE SUBJECT TO BYLAW ENFORCEMENT.
