The SLRD received a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) Application proposing the use of Crown land for commercial backcountry recreation activities run by Blackcomb Snowmobiles Ltd. One portion of Crown Land will contain a backcountry hut and a temporary storage container, located on Metal Dome Mountain. A second portion of Crown Land will be located on Callaghan Valley Rd as a staging base for snowmobile, heli-skiing, dogsled and ATV tours as well as office and repair facilities. The application is for a three-year term as the intention is for the area to be rezoned into a backcountry recreation facility.
TUP No. 50 will be presented to the SLRD Board for their consideration at the May 10, 2017 meeting.
