Temporary Use Permit Application - TUP No. 48 (Pemberton Music Festival Additional Parking - New Application)
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) received a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) Application for additional temporary parking associated with the Pemberton Music Festival. The subject TUP is specific to PID: 013-256-378, DL 213, LLD, Except Plan 35687 (McLeod/Ayers property) and has been submitted in addition to the TUP No. 47 Renewal application. Specifically, the application is for additional weekend parking spaces on north and south portions of the Ayers/McLeod property for a total of thirty-five hectares (~86.5 acres). Note that the SLRD Board approved the renewal of TUP No. 47, which renewed the existing Pemberton Music Festival TUP No. 32, TUP No. 45, and TUP No. 46 on February 15, 2017. Under this TUP No. 47 (Renewal), up to 6,000 weekend parking spaces are permitted on the subject property. TUP No. 48 will allow for additional parking spaces to the capacity of the subject property during the five days of the Festival. From previously submitted site plans, it appears the subject property can accommodate up to 12,000 parking spaces while adhering to the 30 metre Riparian Area setbacks.
The applicant has requested a 3 year TUP, however, the SLRD Board may issue the TUP for between 1 to 3 years (maximum), with an opportunity for renewal after the first permit expires. A requirement of any TUP renewal issued will be the continued approval by the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) of the related Non-Farm Uses, recorded as resolutions #327/2012, #395/2012, #259/2013 and #241/2016, and the conditions therein.
The SLRD Board resolved to issue the subject TUP at its regular Board meeting on March 15, 2017.
