What is a Subdivision?
A subdivision is the process of dividing a property into two or more properties. Strata subdivisions and adjustments of property boundaries (lot line adjustments) between 2 or more separate properties which do not create additional properties are other common types of subdivisions.
How do I apply for a Subdivision?
Authorization for subdivisions is given by the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure (MoTI). All applications for subdivision in electoral areas must be submitted to the MoTI, who will refer all applications to various provincial and public agencies, including the SLRD, for review.
If you are planning to apply for a subdivision, you should contact both MoTI and the SLRD Planning Department regarding your plans prior to submitting an application.
