Land Use Contracts

Land Use Contracts were used in the late 1970s and early 1980s under the Provincial Municipal Act. Land Use Contracts are agreements between local government and property owners which contain specific terms and conditions for any uses or development on a particular piece of land. New Land Use Contracts are not permitted under provincial legislation. However, several Land Use Contracts are still in effect within the SLRD. Please refer to the Land Use and Zoning Bylaw Directory below for more details on these Land Use Contracts. NOTE: In 2014, the Local Government Act was changed to terminate all land use contracts by June 30, 2024. Local governments are required to have zoning bylaws in place by June 30, 2022 that will apply to the land once the land use contracts are terminated.
