Choir Practice

The REC is open to all 50+ on Fridays 12-3pm. Bring your lunch and enjoy a social setting with new and old friends. Choir practice will commence from 1pm onwards in preparation for the upcoming holidays. All abilities and spectators welcome.

Social Walking Club                                                       

If you are 50 and over please come and enjoy a Saturday morning stroll. This is a great way to get outside, enjoy a social setting and make new friends. This is a casual walking club where all abilities and fitness levels are welcome. The Social Walking Club meets at 10am on Saturdays at the front steps to the Pemberton and District Community Centre.

50+ Line Dance/Two Step

If you are 50+ please join us for this Line Dance/ Two Step lesson. This class is offered at an introductory rate of $5 at 12pm on Wednesday May 8th. If you would like the class to continue please express your interest to the instructor at the end of the session. Line dancing is a form of dance that takes place with a group of people. Participants line up in rows and execute the same movements in a synchronized manner. Although a variety of music may be used, the major emphasis is on country-and-western. Pre-registration required by 4pm Friday May 3rd.

Depression and Anxiety Speaker

The Seniors Centre and Pemberton Valley Seniors Society is teaming up with Vancouver Coastal Health to provide an information session on Depression and Anxiety. The session will have a focus on mental health disorders, symptoms, support methods and preventative measures. This is a free event on Thursday May 9th commencing at noon.

Karaoke

On Friday May 10th and 24th we will be offering Karaoke from 1pm onwards. All abilities and spectators welcome. The REC is open to all 50+ every Friday from 12-3pm. Bring your lunch and enjoy a social setting with new and old friends.

Sea to Sky Gondola Excursion

The Seniors Centre is teaming up with the Pemberton Valley Seniors Society to offer a 50+ excursion to the Sea to Sky Gondola. The Whistler Connection bus will pickup at 9am from the Pemberton Community Centre and return back to Pemberton at approximately 3:45pm.  The bus and gondola ticket are included in the price but please note that lunch is not. Please bring a packed lunch or money for the cafeteria. This trip is offered at a discounted rate with the remainder having been generously donated to the Seniors Society by Louis Potvin. $20 for PVSS members and $45 for non members. Please note that a PVSS membership is an annual fee of $20 for those who wish to sign up. Pre-Registration required by Monday 4pm May 6th.

Origami

If you are looking for a quiet afternoon activity please join us at the Rec for an hour of Origami. Beautifully patterned traditional Japanese folding papers and instructional book provided. A great opportunity to be social and try something new. This is a free event where all skill levels are welcome. Wednesday May 22nd from 2-3pm.

Ukrainian Egg Decorating

This is a free instructed lesson on how to decorate a Pysanka on Tuesday April 16th from 12-3pm. A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. Patterns are drawn on the egg with wax, which then protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colors of dye, a multi-colored pattern is built up. Finally, the wax is removed to reveal the colors that were covered up at each stage. This is a free event but please register as spaces are limited.

April 50+ Lunch Club

Join us at the Black Squirrel on Monday April 15th at 11:30am for this month's 50+ Lunch Club! This month we will be having fish tacos with tea or coffee. $13 for PVSS members. $15 for non-members. Pre registration and payment required by 4pm on Friday April 12th.

Nutritional Cooking Class

The Seniors Centre is teaming up with one of Vancouver Coastal Health's registered dietitians to host a 50+ nutrition based cooking class. The class will have a focus on Canada’s new food guide. It is suggested to have a snack before arriving. Participants will get to enjoy the meals cooked, but not until around 2pm. This is a free event but please register as spaces are limited. Ballet

Whether your goal is to stay fit, expand your mind or improve your well-being (or all of the above), ballet has tremendous benefits for us all. Combining flexibility and muscle work, ballet is a sure way to be fit and strong. No experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing and ballet slippers or have bare feet. This class is offered at an introductory rate of $5 at 12pm on Wednesday April 10th. If you wish for this class to continue through May, please talk to Angela at the end of the session.

Indulge in your competitive side in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Ping pong, pool, cribbage, bingo, and board games such as Cranium and Catan. Free tea, coffee and Backcountry pizza provided.

50+ Movie Afternoons

If you are 50+ join us for our Movie Afternoons. This will be held once a month, on the second Thursday of the month. Warm up inside the REC on those cold winter days, relax and enjoy some free popcorn.

Pickleball

We are excited to announce that we will be continuing Pickleball! If you are 50+ and are interested in playing indoor Pickleball, this program is for you. All abilities are welcome to drop in and give it a try. As this is a drop in program it can be best to arrange a set time to arrive with a friend as we have multiple times available and we wouldn’t want you to miss each other. If you are new to the community or here visiting, please don’t hesitate to drop in at any time between 10am and 1:15pm. We have one court reserved at 10am and open up to three courts at 12:15pm.

Please join us during our 50+ open hours on Friday November the 30th in celebrating the relatively new incorporation of seniors in our REC building. Join us for a fun day of bingo, bridge, board games, pool and table tennis. Soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee provided.

The Pemberton Valley Seniors Society is hosting a picnic at Pioneer Park. Bring your own lunch and relax in the park with new and old friends. Fruit and water provided. If you are 50+ this picnic is for you.

We will be offering Pickle Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Pool and Whist followed by lunch catered by Antipasti.

This is an opportunity for members of the community to come together through sport to learn more about the 55+ BC Games as well as the services and programs offered at the Pemberton & District Community Centre and the Youth & Seniors Centre in a fun and social environment.

This is also a great opportunity to see the newly renovated Youth and Seniors Centre.

It's free to participate, but registration is encouraged and can be done online or in person at the Pemberton and District Community Centre.
