June 2023 - Private and public funds support further development of the Sea to Sky Trail
Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is pleased to announce that significant private and public funds have been secured to further develop the Sea to Sky Trail.
The Wilson 5 Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation, is contributing $1,370,000 to the project – the most significant private Sea to Sky Trail donation to date.
“The Wilson 5 Foundation is excited to help make the Sea to Sky Trail a reality for today and for future generations,” said Chip Wilson, co-founder of the Wilson 5 Foundation and founder of lululemon athletica.
The Wilson 5 Foundation contribution augments the nearly $700,000 grant funding from the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation’s Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program announced in April.
“The Province’s Rural Economic Development and Infrastructure Program funding supports economic development and infrastructure projects that help strengthen communities throughout B.C.,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. “Upgrades to the Sea to Sky Trail will help boost tourism in the area while also improving recreational activities for local families.”

December 2020 - Construction on Gord's Garden complete
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District is celebrating the completion of a seven-kilometre section of the Sea to Sky Trail, with the construction of Gord’s Garden.
Gord’s Garden is named in honour of the Sea to Sky Trail’s first project manager, and long-time trails advocate, Gordon McKeever.
The trail section is located between Whistler and Pemberton and follows the Green River, passing through a prehistoric rock avalanche site known as the Rock Garden.
This portion of the Sea to Sky Trail construction was funded with a grant from Trans Canada Trail and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District. With this latest addition, there are now 126 kilometres of Sea to Sky Trail constructed between Squamish and D’Arcy, B.C.

August 2020 – Construction begins on Gord’s Garden
The latest section of the Sea to Sky Trail, Gord’s Garden, in honour of the Trail’s first Project Manager, Gordon McKeever, is under construction! This 6 km section of trail is funded by Trans Canada Trail Foundation and the SLRD. Gord’s Garden will connect the Derailacon section north of Wedgewoods to the Pemberton Racetrack on Green River Forest Service Road. When complete (scheduled for December 2020) the trail will be continuous from Brandywine Falls in the south to the Green River FSR!
