Status Updates:
  • This Notice has been updated, as of December 1. Please go to slrd.bc.ca/tenmileslide for the latest information.
  • Oct. 28: Single lane alternating traffic and 50% legal axle load restrictions are still in effect. The slide movement has been reasonably consistent over the past week, with very little precipitation falling in that time. MOTI engineers are surveyors will continue to monitor the slide area to ensure the safety of the travelling public.
  • Oct. 5: Hwy 99 has re-opened to single lane, alternating traffic 15 km north of Lillooet. Passenger vehicles, school buses and emergency vehicles will now be able to travel from either side of the slide area. However, commercial truck access will only be permitted at 50% legal axle loading until ministry geotechnical engineers further assess the stability of the road surface. Watch for flagging personnel and expect minor delays.
  • Oct. 3: Highway 99 remains closed about 15 km north of Lillooet due to ongoing instability in the vicinity of the Ten Mile (Fountain) Slide. The timeline for re-opening is unknown; the next Drive BC update will be at 10 am on Wednesday, October 5.
  • Sept. 29: The SLRD participated in a joint agency coordination call this morning. MOTI and Xaxli'p reported ongoing instability in the slide area. Geotechnical assessments are ongoing. The road closure has been extended until at least Monday, October 3. The next update is expected on Monday morning. Please plan ahead for alternate travel routes and extended travel times, especially for health-related appointments.
