  • Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, the existing campfire ban was expanded to include the "Fog Zone."
  • Effective at noon on Tuesday, July 28, campfires will be permitted in the North Island-Central Coast Natural Resource District, in the Fog Zone and on Haida Gwaii.

  • Ban extended to all areas in Coastal Fire Service area except Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island's Fog Zone as of July 2
  • Effective at noon on July 8, the existing campfire ban will include "the Fog Zone"
  • Effective at noon on July 28, campfires will once again be permitted in the North Island-Central Coast, on the mainland north of Knight Inlet, in the Fog Zone, and on Haida Gwaii
  • Effective at noon on August 28, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.

Status Updates:
  • June 16, 2015 9:00 a.m. - Air quality in Squamish is now rated at 2 - Low health risk. Please enjoy your usual outdoor activities.
  • June 22, 2015: 9:15 a.m. - The Elaho wildfire is approximately 30% contained.
  • June 23, 2015: 8:30 a.m. - The Elaho wildfire is approximately 40% contained
  • June 24, 2015: 9:00 a.m. - Investigation reveals lightening, not people, to be the cause of the fire.
  • June 25, 2015: 9:00 a.m. - The wildfire has been mapped at 586 hectares; 40% contained
  • June 26, 2015: 9:00 a.m. - The wildfire is now 45% contained.
  • June 29, 2015 - The wildfire is 45% contained and approximately 611 hectares in size.
  • July 2, 2015 - The wildfire is now 60% contained. Road access is still restricted along the Squamish Valley Forest Service Road at 53 kilometre
