Electoral Area Fire Services
The SLRD presently manages two volunteer fire departments and provides financial contributions to a number of other established volunteer fire services.
In the northern region, fire services are dispatched by the Surrey Fire Communications Centre to Lillooet, Bralorne and Seton Valley. Fire Services for the south are dispatched by ECOMM to fire halls in Britannia Beach, Garibaldi, Birken, Pemberton, Whistler and Squamish.

Britannia Beach Volunteer Fire Department (Howe Sound East Fire Protection service; Electoral Area D)
Britannia Beach VFD provides structural fire suppression, vehicle fire response and interface fire assistance to a service area that extends from the southern boundary of the District of Squamish southwards to the northern boundary of the Village of Lions Bay. This service is provided directly by the SLRD under the authority of SLRD Establishing Bylaw 1032-2006. The department has been in existence in one form or another since 1904.

Garibaldi Volunteer Fire Department (Garibaldi Fire Protection service; Electoral Area D)
Garibaldi VFD provides structural fire suppression, vehicle fire response and interface fire assistance to a service area which extends from the southern boundary of the RMOW southwards along highway 99 to the Ministry of Transportation salt sheds. The fire hall is located adjacent to the Black Tusk Village and Pine Crest strata developments. This service is provided directly by the SLRD under the authority of SLRD Specified Area Establishment Bylaw 97, 1976.
The Garibaldi Fire Protection Society is an active fundraiser for equipment and apparatus purchases.

Fire services where the SLRD provides a financial contribution
Birken Volunteer Fire Service (Birken Fire Protection Service; Electoral Area C)
The Birken volunteer fire service is operated by the Birken Fire Protection Society with financial contribution from the SLRD. The fire hall is centrally located within the service area which covers about 35 square kilometers.

Bralorne Volunteer Fire Service (Bralorne Fire Protection service; Electoral Area A)
The Bralorne volunteer fire service is operated by the Bralorne Fire Protection Society with financial contribution from the SLRD. Its jurisdiction is the town of Bralorne and its immediate surrounding area.

Gun Lake Fire Protection Society (Gun Lake Fire Protection service; Electoral Area A)
The Gun Lake Fire Protection Society was formed in 1999. The society offers limited fire suppression to residents of Gun Lake and Little Gun Lake through a financial contribution from the SLRD.

The Seton Lake Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection services under contract to the SLRD.

Municipal Fire Services
Municipalities are responsible for the provision of fire protection through their local fire departments.
The following "defined area" services have been established as a means of supporting the Lillooet and Pemberton Fire Departments, which in turn, are contracted to provide fire protection services to certain parts of Areas B and C.
- Lillooet Fire Protection (for one parcel of land that contains 10 mobile homes and 4 buildings)
- Pemberton Fire Protection (Pemberton Fringe)
- Pemberton Meadows Fire Protection (Pemberton Meadows)
- Pemberton Heights Fire Protection (Walkerville, Reid Road, Owl Ridge and environs)
Search and Rescue Services
The SLRD provides funding for the following Search & Rescue services:
- Pemberton Search & Rescue
- Lillooet Area Rescue Service (District of Lillooet, Area A and Area B)
