If you would like to apply for a permit for a new solid waste management facility in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, you may file an application for authorization of the following facilities:
- Disposal facility
- Transfer station
- Material recovery facility
- Storage facility
- Brokering facility
- Composing facility
- Land clearing/demolition waste facility (including burn sites)
- Pet crematory
- Waste-to-energy facility (including the manufacturing of refuse-derived fuel)
- Any proposal for the beneficial use of waste
- Any other facility the Ministry of Environment requires
The Regional Waste Manager of the Ministry of Environment shall determine if a given or proposed facility or process can be authorized to the Solid Waste Management Plan using this procedure. Prior to application, a meeting is required to discuss plans with BC Environment and SLRD staff to identify any immediate concerns.
