Community Update #1: Signal Hill Wildfire, Electoral Area C

Based on recommendations from the BC Wildfire Service, an Evacuation Alert has been issued for affected properties in the Village of Pemberton and SLRD Electoral Area C due to the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852). Residents within the alert area are encouraged to prepare for the possibility of an evacuation should conditions change.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) and the Village of Pemberton continue to monitor the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852) in coordination with the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), local First Nations and emergency management partners.

Current Status

• The wildfire was discovered on July 15 near Signal Hill, approximately 5 km from Highway 99.
• BC Wildfire Service crews remain on scene overnight, supported by aerial resources and additional personnel. Firefighters will continue working to contain the wildfire through the night (July 15) and into tomorrow July 16.
• Smoke may remain highly visible from Highway 99 (Portage Road) and surrounding communities. Residents may also observe firefighting aircraft operating in the area.
• An Evacuation Alert was issued for affected properties in the Village of Pemberton and SLRD Electoral Area C. The alert has been issued to provide residents with time to prepare should conditions change. Residents are not being asked to leave at this time.
• An Evacuation Order has been issued for One Mile Lake Park (7362 Highway 99) to restrict public access and provide a safe working area for emergency responders supporting wildfire response operations.
• Emergency management personnel continue to monitor the situation closely in coordination with BC Wildfire Service.

We understand this situation may be concerning for residents. At this time, we encourage everyone to remain prepared, stay informed through official sources and follow any directions issued by emergency officials. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
