The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) values Community involvement.
As a member of the public, there are several ways you can get involved by addressing and/or engaging with the SLRD Board.

You do not need to attend a meeting to have your input considered.
If you wish to bring a concern or an item of interest to the attention of the Board or one of it's Committees, it is recommended that you write a letter - which is called correspondence. Letters of correspondence can be received in the following ways:
- Email: info@slrd.bc.ca
- Mail: Box 219, 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton, BC, V0N 2L1
- In-person: Pemberton Administration Office at 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton, BC
You letter of correspondence should:
- be addressed to either the Board of Directors or the Board Chair;
- clearly and concisely describe the concern or item of interest you wish to bring attention to; and,
- include your full name and address.
Your letter of correspondence will be received by SLRD staff who are responsible to forward all correspondence to the Board or Board Chair. The Board or Board Chair may:
- provide you with a direct response; and / or,
- request that your letter of correspondence be published in a specific meeting agenda package so it can be appropriately considered at a convened meeting.
All letters of correspondence will form part of the public record and may also be published in a public meeting agenda package; personal addresses, phone numbers and email addresses will be redacted pursuant to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).
What is a delegation?
Members of the public who wish to appear before the Board or one of it’s Committees may make an application to Request to Appear as a Delegation.
A delegation is the formal name for an individual or group who appear before the Board or a Committee to:
- make a presentation or request a specific action on a matter that is of broad interest and falls within the jurisdiction of the regional district
- initiate interest and guidance to a solution for an item of public concern
- provide information to the Board/Committee on a project, idea, or concept
Before you submit an application to Request to Appear as a Delegation, you may wish to first discuss your concern or item of interest with a member of the Board or Regional District staff. You might determine that another option, such as sending a letter of correspondence (more information above), would better address your specific concern or item of interest.
How to apply?
All Request to Appear as a Delegation applications are given fair, consistent, and timely consideration.
Board and Committee agenda planning occurs well in advance of scheduled meetings; please submit an application as early as reasonably possible to permit sufficient time to effectively support delegation presentations to the Board or a Committee.
Per the SLRD Procedure Bylaw (consolidated) all applications must:
- be made in writing; use the convenient online form below*
- be received not less than six (6) business days (preferably two weeks) prior to the requested meeting date
Further note:
- applicants will be notified if the request has been accepted or declined
- approved applicants will be provided further details including the meeting date, time, and instructions regarding deadlines for presentation materials (if any), and meeting protocols
There are some limits - greater details are available in the Directions to Delegations Guide [PDF/117KB] and the SLRD Procedure Bylaw 1499-2016.
*If you are unable to complete an application using the online form, please contact us to make other arrangements (i.e., you can complete an application via email, mail, or in-person as needed).
Be advised that submission of an application does not constitute approval to appear.
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District's mission is to enhance the quality of life of constituents through the facilitation of regional and community services for the benefit of present and future generations.
