Public notice is hereby given that nominations for a four-year term for the following offices of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District:

  • Director representing Electoral Area A - 1 position
  • Director representing Electoral Area B - 1 position
  • Director representing Electoral Area C - 1 position
  • Director representing Electoral Area D - 1 position

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations from the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) website at SLRD.bc.ca/2026Elections. Candidate nomination packages are now available in printed and electronic form: printed copies can be picked up during regular business hours at the SLRD office (1350 Aster Street in Pemberton) or email elections@SLRD.bc.ca to receive a package electronically or by regular mail.

Qualifications for Office

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as an Electoral Area Director if, at the relevant time, they meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age as of October 17, 2026; 
  • Must be a Canadian citizen; 
  • Must have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six (6) months immediately prior to the date nomination papers are filed; 
  • Must not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Campaign Period Expense Limits

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local elections, the expense limit for candidates during the campaign period in each of the SLRD’s electoral areas is $6,161.89.

Third Party Advertising Limits

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local elections, the third party directed advertising expense limit of $924.28 applies in each of the SLRD’s electoral areas. The third party cumulative advertising expense limit is $184,856.70 and applies to directed and issue advertising in all election areas. The total value of all advertising sponsored cannot exceed this limit.
