Notice of Filming: Britannia Beach area (May 24 & 25, 2018)

Dialogue scenes for the TV Movie “The Big Sleep” will be shot on location in the Britannia Beach area on May 24 and 25, 2018 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM both days.

The filming will be taking place on private property (Britannia Mine Museum, Minaty Bay) and the appropriate permits have been obtained from the Province. The scenes are dialogue scenes and no impact to neighbouring properties is anticipated.

Category 2 Open Fires restricted in parts of Coastal Fire Centre effective May 18 (noon)

Note from the SLRD: The Information Bulletin below from the Coastal Fire Centre was issued on Thursday, May 17 and impacts all public and private land within SLRD Areas C and D. Residents and property owners living in the Village of Pemberton, Resort Municipality of Whistler or District of Squamish should check with their local fire departments to determine whether the prohibitions apply within municipal boundaries.

District of Squamish & SLRD Electoral Area D Agriculture Land Use Inventory 2017

The BC Ministry of Agriculture and its partners conducted an Agricultural Land Use Inventory (ALUI) for the District of Squamish and Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Electoral Area D in the summer of 2017. The ALUI was funded in part by District of Squamish, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, and Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial territorial initiative.

Information Bulletin: Small wildfire burning on Brunswick Mountain, SLRD Area D

The B.C. Wildfire Service (Coastal Fire Centre) has advised the SLRD that a small wildfire, less than 1 hectare in size, is currently burning on Brunswick Mountain, in the vicinity of the Tunnel Bluffs lookout north of Lions Bay, in SLRD Electoral Area D. The fire was reported in the afternoon on Monday, May 14.

While the fire is visible from the valley bottom / Highway 99, no structures are at risk and there is no threat to public safety at this time.

Community Meeting - Taicheng Temporary Use Permits #57 & 58

A community meeting will be hosted by the applicants for Temporary Use Permits #57 and #58 that are seeking to establish a number of temporary land uses on the Taicheng properties at South Britannia Beach.  The community meeting will be held at the Britannia Beach Community Hall at 7 pm on Wednesday May 2, 2018.
