The SLRD is conducting a review of the Official Community Plan and zoning bylaw (land use regulation) that applies to Electoral Area C. The process has begun, and we want to hear your thoughts on the directions that have been developed to improve the policies and regulations guiding land use in your community.

Time? 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Where? Blackwater Creek School, 9667 Pemberton Portage Road, D'Arcy
Why? To review the the Official Community Plan and zoning bylaw.
What is being proposed?
The major directions and proposals for renewed Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw for Area C are:
- Continued protection for Rural Residential Areas
- Requiring bed and breakfasts to be operated by the regular residents of the house
- Improved Guidelines for Commercial areas
- Increased protection for use farmland for agriculture
- Replace Land Use Contracts with conventional zoning
Official Community Plans and Zoning bylaws are typically reviewed every five to ten years in order to ensure that the regulations are current and reflect the needs of the community. Both the OCP and the Zoning Bylaw are over ten years old and both need updating.
