    PITCH-IN CANADA Week - OPERATION: Clean Sweep April 20 - 26, 2014

    WHEREAS hundreds of thousands of Canadians show their concern for the environment and their communities each year by participating in PITCH-IN CANADA projects to: reduce, reuse, recycle and properly dispose of waste; clean up and rejuvenate local neighbourhoods, green spaces, ravines, waterways and illegal dump sites; restore habitats; and to establish composting and recycling projects;

    AND WHEREAS PITCH-IN CANADA, a national, community-based, organization comprised of eco-action and community volunteers, believes that maintaining a quality environment and encouraging civic pride is everyone's responsibility;

    AND WHEREAS PITCH-IN CANADA encourages voluntary action to keep communities clean and beautiful and restore and maintain a healthy environment;

    NOW THEREFORE the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District declares the week of April 20-26, 2014 as "PITCH-IN CANADA Week" in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District and invites all citizens in our region to actively participate in PITCH-IN CANADA's OPERATION: Clean Sweep!
     

    Get involved! Take part in the largest environmental improvement campaign in Canada and join other hard-working volunteers across the nation who care about improving their communities. 

    Overview  

    This event provides an opportunity for people across Canada to work together to collect litter and recyclables around their communities.

    The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District and participating member municipalities will participate once again by encouraging local residents and businesses to take part in a number of activities aimed at cleaning up the region.

    SLRD staff will participate in the 20-minute makeover challenge to clean up around the SLRD office and trails on Earth Day - Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

    Challenge your business, school, neighbourhood, family and friends to PITCH-IN and clean up our commercial areas, wildlife areas, parks and ravines, schools and neighborhoods, highway/roadside, sports fields, waterways, nature & recreational trails. 

    Registration closes April 25, 2014

    Registered participants receive free litter and recycling bags if registered before April 15th. 
    The SLRD and participating member municalpaties will work with groups to arrange for drop off and pick-up of Pitch-In bags. 

    Facebook and E-news recognition will also be given to willing participants
