SLRD Announces Resignation of Electoral Area A Director

Resignation of Director John Courchesne effective immediately; Alternate Director Steve Oakley to assume role
 

Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) announced today that for personal reasons, John Courchesne has resigned as Electoral Area A Director, effective immediately.

Steve Oakley, the Alternate Director for Electoral Area A, will fill the position of Electoral Area A Director until a by-election is held.

A by-election for the position of Electoral Area A Director will be held in the coming months, and details regarding the by-election will be available on the SLRD’s website.

The SLRD’s municipal directors are appointed to the SLRD Board by their respective municipal councils, and the SLRD’s electoral area directors are elected to the SLRD Board during General Local Elections that are held every four years. The last General Local Election was October 20, 2018.  After Mr. Courchesne was elected in 2018, he appointed Mr. Oakley as the Alternate Director for Electoral Area A.
