Following a strategic planning session at last week's Committee of the Whole meeting, the SLRD Board has updated its strategic directions and goals. The following four strategic priorities will guide the SLRD Board's actions and decisions for the remainder of the four year term:

  1. Enhance relationships with aboriginal communities and First Nations
Goal: Collaborative, respectful relationships with aboriginal communities and First Nations
  2. Improve Board process and understanding of regional issues
Goal: An effective, respectful, functional Board and organization; improved decision making
  3. Focusing Provincial advocacy
Goal: Improve support from Province for regional issues and goals
  4. Accessible and Inclusive Government
Goal: Communicate effectively with Squamish-Lillooet Regional District residents. Make local government decision making as participatory and accessible as possible.

The first three priorities and goals are unchanged; the final priority and goal replaces the priority of identifying and implementing mutually beneficial regional projects, and the corresponding goal of achieving regional projects that deliver quick wins and long term results.

Strategic priorities are reviewed by the Board each year.
