SLRD DECIDES NOT TO PURSUE NEW OFFICE SPACE AT THE ELEMENTS
Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has decided not to proceed with the purchase of new office space at the Elements building in downtown Pemberton. Upon further review as part of the due diligence process, it was determined that the space was insufficiently sized for the SLRD’s purposes. As a result, the Alternative Approval Process required to seek electoral approval to finance the purchase will not move ahead at this time.
“It’s unfortunate that the Elements space isn’t going to suit our needs after all, but that’s what the due diligence process is for,” says Jack Crompton, SLRD Board Chair. “We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the vendors and the realtors for their patience, flexibility and willingness to work with us. We’re sorry it didn’t work out.”
The SLRD will continue to explore its options for securing adequate office space. The central issue with the SLRD’s current office space is its size; the SLRD has been challenged by a lack of sufficient space for several years.
