Search firm to be hired to conduct search for replacement
Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) Board of Directors has announced that Lynda Flynn has resigned from the position of Chief Administrative Officer.
Flynn, who joined the SLRD as CAO in October, 2011, resigned from the position last month. Her last day will be March 6, 2020.
Flynn and her husband will be relocating from Pemberton to the Okanagan Valley. Originally from the area, Flynn is returning to help care for her elderly parents, who both still reside there. “I am sad to leave the SLRD,” Flynn said. “But this is the right decision for myself, my husband, and my family, at this point in our lives,” she said. “It’s been a privilege to have worked at the SLRD, and I feel very fortunate to have experienced the support and sense of family that is the culture of the organization,” she said. “It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it was the right one at this time.”
“We are grateful to have had Lynda at the helm of the SLRD for the past eight plus years,” said SLRD Board Chair, Tony Rainbow. “Lynda has been a thoughtful, steadfast and accomplished leader who has navigated the SLRD through a challenging, yet rewarding, time,” he said. “The guidance she provided to the Board, and her leadership of the team, is invaluable,” he said. “She will be deeply missed by the Board of Directors and the staff at the SLRD.”
The SLRD Board will hire an executive search firm to fill the CAO position. In the meantime, the SLRD Board has named Kristen Clark, the SLRD’s Director of Legislative and Corporate Services, to the position of Interim CAO.
“We are delighted to have Kristen step in as interim CAO to provide consistency during this transition, while we search for a permanent replacement,” Rainbow said.
“We have a strong team of dedicated professionals at the SLRD and I am confident that under Kristen’s leadership, the excellent work they deliver will continue.”
