Search firm to be hired to conduct search for replacement

Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) Board of Directors has announced that Melany Helmer plans to retire from the position of Chief Administrative Officer.

Helmer, who joined the SLRD as CAO in September 2020, will continue in the position until a new CAO is hired, and will assist with the transition.

“I have enjoyed my time at the SLRD, and working with the dedicated team and the Board of Directors,” Helmer said. “This is a beautiful area of the province, and I have enjoyed being able to spend some time in the region and contribute to the organization. My family and I own a rural property in northern B.C., and we will be returning to that area,” she explained.

The SLRD Board of Directors announced they will engage the services of a search firm to begin the hiring process.

“Melany joined the team at the SLRD during unprecedented times, and has shown tremendous leadership in guiding the organization through this last year, particularly through the uncertainty of the pandemic,” said SLRD Board Chair Jen Ford. “We are grateful for Melany’s leadership, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
